Content Manager
Why Content Manager is Essential
I genuinely can't imagine using AC without Content Manager. The default launcher feels like a relic once you've experienced CM (I'm sorry Kunos). It's faster, better organized, and has features I didn't even know I needed until I had them.
Why I Love It
- Quick Drive: Pick a car, pick a track, click drive. No navigating through menus forever
- Mod Installation: Just drag a ZIP file onto CM. Done. No more manually extracting to folders
- Organization: Tags, filters, favorites - actually find that car you installed 6 months ago
- Presets: Save different graphics settings for solo vs online vs VR
- Server Browser: Way better than the in-game one
- Replays: Better replay controls and management
Getting It
There's two versions:
- Lite (Free): Has everything you actually need
- Full (Donation): Some extra features, supports the developer
Get it from acstuff.club. Start with Lite - it's genuinely free and not some crippled trial version.
First Things to Check
When you first set up CM:
- AC Path: Make sure it found your Assetto Corsa installation correctly
- CSP: If you have Custom Shaders Patch, make sure it's detected
- FFB: Check the force feedback settings
- Graphics: Set up a preset or two for your typical use
Quick Drive is a Game Changer
Seriously, Quick Drive alone makes CM worth it:
- Pick your car from a searchable list
- Pick your track
- Set weather, time of day, conditions
- Add AI if you want
- Click Drive
Compare that to the default launcher's endless menu navigation. It's not even close.
Installing Mods
This used to be a pain. Now:
- Download a mod (usually a ZIP file)
- Drag it onto CM
- CM figures out where it goes and installs it
- If something's wrong, it tells you
Removing mods is just as easy - find it in your content list and delete. No hunting through folders.
Online Stuff
CM's server browser is much better:
- Filter by track, car, player count, etc.
- See detailed server info before joining
- Save favorites
- See what cars/tracks you're missing
Random Tips
- Use tags to organize your collection - future you will thank you
- Make separate graphics presets for different scenarios
- CM updates pretty often - keep it current
- Back up your CM settings folder occasionally
